Who is SurrealSerpentine?

I am a Pakistani artist from the UK. I weave characters, worlds, and narratives that delve into the dark and divine natures of existence, exploring themes of mortality, spirituality, and the human condition. My body of work is a journal, each entry an attempt to depict and decipher the intricate complexities of my being.

At 12, I discovered my first true passion: playing guitar. The movie School of Rock, coupled with my existing love for metal, inspired me to follow in the footsteps of my musical idols. This was the spark that ignited my artistic journey.

With only a phone, I began creating digital art in 2017. I started by editing my photography; as time passed, I was limited by what I could shoot, so I bought myself a laptop and began manipulating stock imagery in Photoshop. I focused on transforming the images, making them unrecognisable, and using elements from different photos to create a brand-new visual, entirely my own. This journey of learning and growth ultimately led me to where I am now: the world of 3D art.

In 2019, my trilogies were born. What started as a superficial attempt to bring a consistent aesthetic to my portfolio became a profound metamorphosis. Each trilogy was a journey, a narrative arc that allowed me to delve into disparate styles and concepts, resulting in a collection of works that, while dramatically distinct from each other, still carried the essence of my artistic voice. It was the beginning of a universe, a home for an abundance of characters, worlds and entities, all born from my imagination and brought to life with my artwork.

In 2023, I shifted my focus to animated works, and with these visuals, I crafted sounds to accompany them. Music took a back seat while I focused on art for many years. Returning to music felt like a long-dormant part of my soul finally reawakened.

The programs I use to create are Photoshop, Blender, After Effects, and Ableton Live.
